We've fallen into unhealthy ways. We eat when we feel like it. We watch tv while
eating supper. We get a lot of takeout foods and we snack and nibble our way
through each day. Exercise is definitely not a part of our day! Did I mention
we work from home so we have lots of flexibility when it comes to eating and
exercise routines. So why aren’t we healthier? Why are we full of good
intentions that we never put into motion?
JILL
I’m
Jill and I love to cook. I try to make nutritious suppers but I don’t always
manage it. We each do our own thing for breakfasts and lunches. We do a lot of
meals out and takeout foods.
Because
of some physical challenges I can’t undertake many fitness routines. I can’t
walk very far and I can’t bend one knee so that limits my ability to get really
physical. But that doesn’t mean I can’t do stretches and other gentle exercises
to maintain some level of health! But I don’t. Or I go in sporadic fits of
stretches and situps for a few days then slack off to nothing for months.
My
job is sedentary and I have high blood pressure. Oh, and I could lose a few
pounds. Okay, I could lose a LOT of pounds. I’m 5’7” and I weigh 165 lb.
JACK
My
husband is Jack. Heart problems run in his family. The men tend to die young.
Jack doesn’t get any cardiovascular exercise at all. He doesn’t run or jog or
even walk for that matter. Neither of us has ever gone to a gym in our lives.
Jack works around our hobby farm tending to the animals but he moves at the
pace of a snail so even though they say slow and steady wins the race, it might
not win the race for life and health for him.
Jack also works from home so has a lot of freedom in eating and exercise routines. He's 6’3” and weighs 190 lb. and steadily rising....
THE QUESTION
Here's the question - can we make changes? Or are we stuck in our unhealthy lifestyle? Right now we just want to document what we eat and when (if ever!) we exercise. Maybe the photos we put on this blog will slap us in the face and make us wake up and take notice!
So please join us on our journey. We promise to be honest about everything except our real names. And most of all -- feel free to comment on our food choices! We welcome encouragement, advice, ideas, tips for healthy lifestyle choices, and whatever else you want to throw our way.
